Velvet Dreams Photography

Sharing one of the photos from a competition we did a while ago. We did some behind the scene video that I would like to show you guys very soon!

My Photo Journey - Tamil

I'd like all of you to get to know us a little more. We are two females behind VelvetDreamsPhotography. Daniella will make her own entry about herself in a few days.

My name is Jenna and I am from Denmark. Currently living in London. I have a huge passion for art and photography. I have been playing with my brushes ever since I had art classes in school. Only then I discovered how 3 hours felt like 3 minutes and I would want to work with the art even more. I'd like to share some of my work with you guys when I get back to Denmark.

I also had my little toy - my camera that I always carried whenever I was with friends or with family. Taking photographs at each function at home or away was my thing. I love being in front and behind the camera. After covering some of my friends' events in Denmark I was highly encouraged by friends to get a DSLR. I always knew that was my path, but there is something called fear that stopped me as I also had to take up an education that I could keep in my rucksack in case my dream wouldn't work out. I did study English and Media when getting my first degree. Throughout media I learnt video and photography - however the big focus was on videography. I loved that course! That was my thing, playing with big equipment, being able to edit, and make everything into my own story. You basically direct what you want and I loved making the stories.

Before getting my own DSLR, I had a friend that also loved photography a lot. I would go with him whenever he would photograph but never would tell him how much I loved it on my own so I would usually stand back, love every minute of the scenery and watch his passion for photography. I was hoping that I would get that strength myself. I would then grow my passion and collect photographs that I would be highly inspired of. One day, I decided that it was going to be it and I went and bought my own camera. I took for smaller events, and that helped me grow my portfolio. At that stage I was in the UK and I had no connections other than my university contacts and getting to build a network on my own was the toughest thing. I did not know a single Tamil person other than very few friends that I had connected with.

I then met Daniella who also had moved to the UK to study and find new opportunities and she herself had a huge passion for photography. Together we started this great journey and I don't regret a single minute of this decision.

I hope you will all follow us on this journey and show us great support. Being women and carrying big equipments means nothing when you have that passion inside you. Don't ever let fear hold you back.

Jenna

Welcome!

I've been dying to make a blog for a long time. Actually I do have a personal blog but I wanted to make one for photo lovers! It's great way for you viewers to get to know us a little more and see how we work behind the scenes. We have done few footages while working behind the camera and I would like to share them on my blog. This is the first post so a big WELCOME!
